Tips for looking fabulous in or out of the water

Different women have different body types that have arbitrarily been named. This article will focus on the ‘athletic’ figure and the best choices in bikinis/swimwear if you are this body type.

What is a slim/athletic body type?

Women who generally have a small bone structure, are quite slim and have very few curves are considered to the slim/athletic body type.

More times than not this body type will also wear ‘petite’ clothing and not have much bust line. If you constantly hear…"You are so skinny", then you are probably a slim/athletic body type.

The best swimwear tops for slim/athletic shaped women.

If you have decided that you fit into the slim/athletic body type, then you may have parts of your body you want to accentuate in order to create some curves.

Generally this body type will have naturally small breasts. To create the illusion of having more curves than you really do, purchase bikini/swimwear tops that give you some cleavage using an under wire and padding.

Bikini tops that are triangular in shape, if you are small breasted, will be the most unflattering for your body. However, if you are well endowed, you can purchase a triangular type of bikini top and look great.

As well you can wear floral prints as well as horizontal stripes on top to create the illusion of a bigger bust.

Bikini/swimwear bottoms that look best on a slim/athletic body type.

When choosing the swimwear/bikini bottoms that will look best on you, if you are short along with being thin, keep in mind that a two-piece suit will look more flattering.

A two piece suit or bikini shows lots of skin at the waist line. This gives the illusion of a longer torso and can make you look taller.

Swimwear bottoms that have ribbons and ties at the hips should be avoided as they draw unwanted attention to short legs. If you are short you should purchase bikini bottoms that have a higher cut at the leg to create a longer line.

If you are taller and still fit into the slim/athletic body type then you will still want to accentuate beautiful long legs. You will most likely be able to get away with accent pieces on your bikini bottoms such as ties, bows or rings.

As well you can wear floral prints and horizontal stripes on bottom to create the illusion of a bigger hips.

Some styles will look sloppy and unflattering on slender women. If your suit is too large, for example, it can make you look shapeless. If your suit is too dark, your assets will disappear even further.

Just because you are thin and have what is considered to be an athletic body, don’t think that you can get away with just any bathing suit. However this body type can get away with a lot more than most.
